PLAVAN PANTHER

Volunteer Guidelines

Hello Plavan Families!

If you wish to volunteer in your child's classroom, on a field trip or to help with PTO sponsored school events, thank you!  Please make sure you follow the guidelines as set forth by the State of California in order to be cleared to volunteer.  Volunteer handouts are attached.

Level 1 Volunteers:  Current TB Test, screening, or chest x-ray on file in our Health Office.  TB Tests are good for 4 years from the date of a negative test; screening or chest x-ray are good for two years from the date of screening or x-ray.  Please be sure to keep track of the expiration date.  Check with our Health Assistant, Caren Rizzo, at [email protected] if you are unsure of whether you are current.

Level 1 Volunteers can spend time on campus, but not with small student groups, and must have supervision of a certificated staff member. A maximum of 5 hours a week and no field trips.

Level 2 Volunteers: Must complete a Livescan fingerprint screening, DOJ background check at the volunteer's own expense, to be able to volunteer with small groups of students, go on field trips, etc.  Livescan forms can be picked up at the school office.  This can take anywhere from one week to longer, depending on the DOJ (Department of Justice)'s timeline for background checks.

Lastly, please make sure you have your license scanned by the Raptor Visitor Management system at the front desk BEFORE volunteering.  Once your driver's license has been scanned, you can use the barcode on it to sign in and sign out and get a visitor sticker.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering.  Please reach out to the PTO at [email protected] and/or your child's teacher for volunteer opportunities.
