Dear Plavan Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I am so excited to have our school community come back together as I start my second year at Plavan Elementary.
This year marks my 19th year in education. I graduated from UCLA (Go BRUINS!!!), earned my Masters in Educational Leadership in 2008, and recently received my Doctoral degree in 2019 from Cal-State University Fullerton (Go TITANS!!!). I love being the principal of Plavan! The position provides opportunities to collaborate with a passionate and talented group of teachers and parents, while staying connected to the amazing students and families of our community.
In addition to my role as a principal, I am first and foremost a husband and a father. I have been happily married for nearly 20 years to my wife Alice. We have four terrific children, oldest daughter in high school, identical twin girls in middle school, and my youngest son entering his last year in elementary school.
I am very excited for this fall because our school community (both students & staff) will be coming back together in person. More than 40% of our student body will be either new (Transitional Kinder, Kindergarten, or new enrollees) or returning to Plavan after a year of remote learning. I look forward to meeting and leading our school community in our efforts to reconnect, reengage, and reimagine the educational experience and opportunities for our new, returning, and continuing Plavan Panthers.
