Masuda Middle School Musicians Deliver Unforgettable Back-to-Back Spring Concerts

The evening started at 5:00 PM with the Masuda Monarchs Band, who performed a high-energy set titled "A Night of Pep Tunes." The band kept the audience moving with a crowd-pleasing mix of classic rock anthems and modern pop hits, including "The Final Countdown," "Another One Bites the Dust," and "Radioactive." A major highlight of the band's performance included impressive featured solos by student musicians Dustin Dao on the alto saxophone and Henry Redhead on the trumpet. The band ultimately wrapped up their energetic set with a special encore medley of "The Best of The Beatles."

At 6:00 PM, the stage shifted to the Masuda Monarchs Orchestra. The orchestral student group demonstrated incredible technical range and versatility throughout their performance. Their program seamlessly balanced classical masterpieces like W.A. Mozart's Divertimento No. 9 and Doug Spata's Gargoyles with cinematic themes from Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and The Incredibles. Proving that orchestral instruments can rock just as hard as any band, the students also performed beautiful arrangements of Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," Coldplay's "Clocks," and Led Zeppelin's legendary "Stairway to Heaven."

An evening featuring this level of musical diversity requires months of hard work and practice. FVSD extends its deepest appreciation to Music Director Rob Covacevich for his unwavering commitment to instructing, motivating, and inspiring his students every day.

Congratulations to all of our Masuda Band and Orchestra Monarchs on an absolutely spectacular night of music. You made the entire district incredibly proud!
