Lucciano was recently named the winner of the 50th Anniversary Arts & Disability Festival "Shine On" artwork contest, a prestigious honor involving student submissions from school districts across all of Orange County to be highlighted on the cover of this year's festival program.
The committee noted that Lucciano’s winning artwork perfectly captured the spirit of this year’s theme. He, along with his teacher, Ms. Heather Cottle, will be formally recognized during the festival’s opening ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana.
The festival is a beautiful celebration of the artistic accomplishments of people with disabilities, and FVSD will be well-represented throughout the day:
-
Musical Performance: The opening ceremony at 11:00 am will feature a collaborative American Sign Language (ASL) performance of "America the Beautiful" led by Cox's Ms. Monse Carrillo, featuring volunteer 4th-grade music students, including deaf and hard-of-hearing students, from Cox and Gisler.
-
Visual Art Displays: Student work from across the district will be on exhibit, thanks to the dedication of teachers from Gisler (Lisa Diecidue), Cox (Emily Harvest, Mary Jo Davis, Monse Carrillo, and Vincent Saporito), and Oka (Heather Cottle).
"I am excited to see our district highlighted this year thanks to Lucciano’s work," shared Vincent Paule, FVSD Music Educator and OCDE Arts Committee Representative.
We encourage our community to attend this free event, explore the art exhibits, and cheer on Lucciano and our performers as they represent the very best of Fountain Valley!
