Welcome to Plavan Library!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The library has a wide variety of books, sure to entice even the most reluctant reader, from comic books to the comets, from Picasso to Peter Rabbit.  If you find you have a reluctant, struggling, or beginning reader at home, I encourage you to take the time to read with them, no matter their age.  For all students, reading just 20 minutes each day can vastly improve performance in all academic areas.

Library Hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday

Closed Thursdays

Library policies:

  • Kindergarteners may check out 1 book, 1st-4th grades may check out 2 books, 5th grade may check out 3!
  • Library class is every week.  Your student’s books are due at the time of their class’s visit to the library.  Students may renew their books with teacher permission.
  • There are no late fees! However, lost or damaged books must be replaced or paid for.  Keeping your library books in the same safe, dry place is a money and time saver.
  • Students with outstanding books or unpaid lost book fees will not be able to check out new books until the issue is resolved.
  • Students may come return books or get new books outside of their class time with teacher permission or at recess any day the library is open.

If you have any questions or concerns about the library or literacy, please do not hesitate to contact me at

I am always looking for volunteers to help in the library as well!

Thank you and happy reading!
