Hi, my name is Becky De Julio. I have been a teacher for 8 years. I was born and raised in Huntington Beach and graduated from Huntington Beach High School. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a Natural Science Concentration from California State University Long Beach. Following that, I earned a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Master of Arts in Education from Vanguard University of Southern California. I did my student teaching in 1st grade in Santa Ana and in 6th grade in Newport Beach. I was then hired as a 3rd grade teacher in Fountain Valley School District at Plavan Elementary. I spent one year in that grade level before being moved to 4th grade, which is where I’ve been ever since. Starting with my sixth year of teaching, I began sharing contract with my fellow Plavan teacher, Mara Rieck. I believe that sharing a contract is one of the best things that has ever happened to me-Mara and I have a fabulous friendship and working relationship. In addition to being granted a two-year fellowship with the Cotsen Foundation: the Art of Teaching, I have also been trained in GATE, Nancy Fetzer Writing Curriculum, Junior Greatbooks, Thinking Maps, and am currently one of the cheer coaches at Plavan. When I’m not teaching, I’m spending time with my husband of 6 years, two little boys, and boxer dog.
